GREEN WOOD KEITH was born Abt. 1828 in Missouri. He was the eighth child of JOHN BIRDEN KEITH and POLLY ANN CRANE. He married SARAH L. BROWN May 31, 1849 in Hunt County, TX. She was the daughter of Richard Brown and Tilitha ?.
Green Wood Keith served in Company E of the Texas Sharpshooters Battallian during the Civil War along with his brother, George Washington Keith. He signed up on April 30, 1862 in Hunt County, Texas. He moved the family to Eastland County , Texas sometime before 1870 where they were enumerated in the census. He was given a land patent for 160 acres in Erath County, TX August 25, 1874. Then on October 8, 1888 another patent was issued in his name in Hunt County, suggesting they returned there.
